Women in Tech – March Series 2025 🌸

March is Women's Month, and techKoodaram made it count.

We organized a full month of tech events with one clear intention – let women in tech take the stage and share their voice. Every single speaker across the entire March series was a woman. No exceptions.

The series had two formats:

  • Three weekend online webinars – every Saturday in March, 7:10 PM to 7:40 PM
  • One grand physical meetup on March 28 at Vaazhai Incubation Centre, SVCET, Puliyangudi

The entire series was hosted and run by the women of techKoodaram. 🌸

Why This Mattered

In many tech communities, it is still rare to see events where all the speakers are women. We wanted to change that – even if only for one month.

The goal was not just to celebrate Women's Month on paper. The goal was to give women in our community a real platform. To share what they know. To inspire others who are watching.

And that is exactly what happened.

Session 1 – Building GuardVision: AI Systems for Privacy Protection

Speaker: Sowmya L R – AI/ML Enthusiast

Sowmya L R – Building GuardVision: AI Systems for Privacy Protection

The series kicked off with Sowmya L R sharing how she built GuardVision – an AI system designed to detect and redact sensitive information from images to protect privacy.

This was not a theoretical talk. She walked through a real project she had built herself. That made it personal, practical, and deeply interesting.

AI and privacy is a topic that affects everyone, and having a woman engineer explain how she tackled it from first principles was exactly the kind of session we wanted to open with.

Session 2 – Thriving in the Age of AI: Preparing for the Future of Work

Speaker: Reshma Subash – Senior Talent Acquisition, IBM

Reshma Subash – Thriving in the Age of AI: Preparing for the Future of Work

Session 2 brought a perspective that many in our community needed to hear – especially students and early-career professionals.

Reshma spoke about how AI is transforming the workplace, and what it actually means for people building their careers right now. She addressed the fear directly.

One of the key takeaways from her talk:

AI is not going to replace jobs – but jobs are being redefined.

The numbers she shared made it concrete. 85M jobs disrupted, 97M new jobs created, 44% of work tasks can be AI-assisted, and a 3x productivity boost for AI-skilled workers – all from WEF 2025 data. The bigger message: every major wave of automation in history created more jobs than it displaced.

Her message was clear – focus on continuous learning, adaptability, and building skills that grow with the technology.

Bonus: Arthi Murali from SheBuilds also joined the session to share about the SheBuilds initiative – a community dedicated to creating opportunities, support systems, and learning spaces specifically for women in tech. 🌸

The engagement in the chat was real and active throughout.

Session 3 – Unmute Yourself: The Power of Voice, Visibility & Value

Speaker: Avanthika Sampath Kumar – AI Product Analyst, Rocket

Avanthika Sampath Kumar – Unmute Yourself: The Power of Voice, Visibility & Value

The third weekend brought the most personal session of the online series.

Avanthika spoke about something many people feel but rarely talk about – the fear of speaking up. Of waiting to feel "ready." Of holding back ideas that deserve to be heard.

Her session was an open and honest conversation about personal branding, showing up with confidence, and understanding that your voice might be exactly what someone else needs to hear.

It resonated deeply – especially with women who are just starting their journey in tech.

March 28 – Grand Finale at Vaazhai Incubation Centre, SVCET Puliyangudi 🎤

The series closed with a physical meetup on March 28 at Vaazhai Incubation Centre, SVCET, Puliyangudi – and it was one of the most quality-driven meetups techKoodaram has had so far.

Three speakers. Three powerful sessions.

Talk 1 – Authority > Popularity

Speaker: Karunya Gunavathy K – CEO, Kottravai.in | Building Design-Led Livelihoods for Rural Women

Karunya Gunavathy – Authority > Popularity

Karunya's session stood out for a different reason – it was not just about tech. It was about how you show up in the world.

Her talk challenged the audience to think about what really matters in today's digital world. Chasing likes and followers might feel like progress. But building real credibility, depth, and genuine value – that is authority. And authority outlasts popularity every time.

Coming from someone who is building design-led livelihoods for rural women through Kottravai, this session carried real weight.

Talk 2 – DevOps: The Niche You Need to Know

Speaker: Mathumathi V – DevOps Engineer, ZipStack

Mathumathi V – DevOps: The Niche You Need to Know

Mathumathi walked the audience through why DevOps is one of the most important and often underrated domains in modern software development.

She explained how DevOps practices are shaping the way software is built and delivered today – and why it is a must-know skill for anyone looking to grow in tech. Clear, grounded, and practical.

Talk 3 – From Words to Workers: The Rise of AI Agents

Speaker: Pooja Mani – Aram Analytics

Pooja Mani – From Words to Workers: The Rise of AI Agents

Pooja wrapped up the meetup with a session on one of the most exciting areas in AI right now – AI Agents.

She explained how AI is moving beyond just generating text. It is starting to act, decide, and execute. Her session gave attendees a practical understanding of where this technology is heading and what it means for developers, founders, and anyone curious about the future of work.

The perfect note to end on.
